3rd Annual Bethlehem Prayer Service

Prayers, readings, and hymns alternate between Washington and Palestine via the internet, bringing together people of different lands, languages, and ethnic backgrounds in celebration of Christmas.

Participants in Washington include the Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop and Primate, The Episcopal Church; the Rt. Rev. John Bryson Chane, Episcopal Bishop of Washington; the Rt. Rev. Richard H. Graham, Bishop of the ELCA Metropolitan Washington, Synod; the Very Rev. Samuel T. Lloyd III, Dean of the Cathedral, and the Rev. Canon Stephen Huber, Cathedral Vicar.

Participants in Bethlehem include the Rt. Rev. Suheil Dawani, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem; the Rt. Rev. Munib Younan, Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land; and the Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb from Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem.

Showcase of Arab-American Authors

The Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee is hosting an evening with prominent Arab American authors. Featured authors include:

Helen Thomas, Dean of White House Correspondents and trailblazer of female journalists, and co-author, Craig Crawford, MSNBC/Congressional Quarterly journalist, discussing their book, Listen up, Mr. President.

Alia Malek discussing her book A Country Called Amreeka: Arab Roots, American Stories.

Nawar Shora discussing his book The Arab American Handbook, An Introductory Guide to the Arab, Arab-American and Muslim Worlds.

This event will feature remarks by the authors followed by a question and answer period. Following the program there will be individual book signings. Looks like a great time to buy personalized holiday gifts! Refreshments will be served.
